Are volvos the safest cars? Find out the answer here !

The car industry has been around for a couple of hundred years now. One of the most familiar car brands when it comes to car safety is Volvo. In fact, the founder of the three-point safety belt was one of Volvo’s engineers, Nils Bohlin.

Since then, the innovation has saved more than a million lives and prevented millions of serious injuries caused by car accidents. Nowadays, the three-point seatbelt is a standard requirement for all cars and trucks.

The Sweden engineer Nils Bohlin is one of only a few people who have saved many lives with his invention. The V-type three-point seatbelt is widely adopted because Volvo opened the patent so that every car manufacturer can use their design as a free life-saving tool and refuse to make tons of profit from the invention.

Wearing a safety belt has been a legal requirement in most countries for many years. Nils Bohlin’s three-point safety belt invention in 1959 might have saved your life or one of your relatives.

After that major innovation in car safety, Bohlin continued to develop many more innovations for the safer car in Volvo until 1985. The safety belt design is arguably Volvo’s most important invention. Volvo is now recognized as the world leader in car safety, and the three-point seatbelt is only one of the reasons.

Are Volvos safe in a crash?

Volvo originated in Sweden in 1927. Almost a century later, Volvo is currently well-known as the leader in car safety. The car manufacturer has been mainly focusing on road users’ safety innovations as their commitment for decades. Many Volvo car models have been named the safest car.

In 2018, experts and researchers found that no driver or passenger had ever been killed in a registered accident in a Volvo XC90 since 2004, when official records began. Every Volvo on sale has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) is the official European crash tester to work out how safe new cars are. Each model gets a rating from one to five in terms of safety (five being the best) on a series of categories.

Volvo automobile has always been on the list of safe car brands for a long time. The Swedish automaker’s concern for passenger safety is proven by its history.

Their research and development in passenger safety are shown by the safety feature added to make Volvo cars safer year by year.

Every Volvo car is equipped with advanced safety features; some are not adopted in most car models from other automobile brands.

The engine power is balanced with reliable high-technology brakes that Volvo engineers thoroughly test.

The airbags in Volvo cars are placed and designed for as less impact as possible on the passenger. There is more than enough protection from impact in every direction during a car crash.

The vehicles’ airbags are in the front, side, overhead, and knee of the passenger, making an event of an accident will have a much lower injury.

Is Volvo still the safest car?

Volvo continuously produces safe vehicles throughout decades. There are many new car manufacturers, and the competition is more challenging.

Every automobile brand innovates to make better and more efficient vehicles. Despite the fact that the world has been through various eras in the automotive industry, until today, Volvos are still very safe cars.

Not a few Volvo models continue to get the title of the safest vehicle on the road. In 2021, every single Volvo model got an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus.

IIHS is an award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The award not only requires the vehicle to be safe in a crash but also has good design and technology to avoid crashes in the first place.

In 2022, 50 Volvo models earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s highest honor. Again, Volvo cars got scored high ratings in several tests.

The tests showed Volvo vehicles achieved an Advanced or Superior rating for crash-prevention systems. From sedans to SUVs, Volvos are protected by some of the best safety features.

Volvo’s implementation of accident prevention safety features includes many driver assistance features, such as Automated emergency braking, Blind spot monitoring, Lane-keeping pilot assist, Lane departure warning, Rear-cross traffic alert, and Forward collision warning.

Volvo has invented some of the most important features of car safety, and they still do.
